Route
There is a gap in the Trail from Belleville to Shannonville, where
you'll find a busy stretch of highway with gravel shoulders. From
Shannonville, the Trail user has the option of following old Belleville
Rd. northeast into the Township
of Tyendinaga or taking York Road south to Beach and Ridge Roads
through Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte Tyendinaga Territory
The Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory is the only First Nation's community
along the Waterfront Trail. A formal, signed route through the Territory
has not been finalized. It is unlikely that a formal signed alignment
will be installed in the near future. The following route/road descriptions
are taken from the Route Options Study developed by the Trust in
consultation with local partners and published in 1998.

|
- In Shannonville, turn south on York Road and follow it across the
Salmon River to Queen St.
- Take Queen St. west to Beach Rd and follow Beach Rd, which becomes
Ridge Rd., south into the Territory.
- Take Airport Rd to Bayshore and continue east to Deseronto.
- These roads are all 2-laned with narrow shoulders. Beach and Ridge
roads have tar and chip, and gravel sections. Traffic volumes are low
to moderate but since this is an undesignated route, caution should
be used.
- Difficult crossing at the intersection of Airport Rd and Highway 49.
- Signed Trail resumes in Deseronto.
Main Access Points (with parking)
- Tsitkerhododon Park -- Bayshore Road
