Marlaine Koehler Named Executive Director of Trust

Keith Laushway, Chair of the Waterfront Regeneration Trust is pleased to
announce the appointment of Marlaine Koehler as the Executive Director of
the Waterfront Regeneration Trust.

Marlaine is well-known to the Trust partners. She has served the
organization since 1989, leading its promotional, marketing and sponsorship
work. In 1993, she managed the talented team that launched the Waterfront
Trail and Greenway. She also led the Trust through its transition from
government to not-for-profit in 1999.

"I’m delighted to accept the position as Executive Director. My years at the
Trust have been rich and productive. I have met many talented and
knowledgeable people--all committed to regenerating the waterfront. I’ve
been given a unique learning opportunity for which I’m very grateful. As we
approach the 15th Anniversary of Waterfront Trail and Greenway, I look
forward to honouring the legacy that has been built and to working with our
partners to continue our important work on the waterfront.”

Marlaine succeeds Vicki Barron as Executive Director. Under Vicki’s
leadership the Waterfront Trail and Greenway doubled in length from 325 km
to 650km. The Trail now connects waterfront communities from Niagara to
Quebec and encompasses the entire Canadian shores of Lake Ontario and the
provincial shores of the St. Lawrence River. It also secured $9.2 million
from Canada-Ontario Infrastructure Fund, which levered local investment of
over $22 million for 50 waterfront projects.

“I’m very pleased that Vicki has agreed to stay with Trust. Her passion and
clear focus has been critical to the Trust’s success as a not for profit.
She will manage the administration of the Trust and lead several projects”,
stated Marlaine, “We’re a great team and very excited about tackling the
remaining challenges facing the waterfront.”
