Attachments: Visit us at the Hamilton World Cycling Championships in OctoberFrom Monday October 6th to 12th the World Cycling Championships will be in Hamilton. Many of you will remember that this was a key marketing and promotional opportunity identified during our Fall Partners meeting. Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to attend the event to enjoy both the races and the entertainment that has been organized including opening ceremonies, Six Nations Aboriginal Festival and a Stationary Bike Challenge. Also at the event will be “Expo Village” for vendors to display/sell their products/services – an excellent opportunity to speak to cycling enthusiasts (one of our target audiences) and make them aware of the Lake Ontario Waterfront Trail. The Trust is very excited to be staffing a booth during the Championships. We expect to sell lots of Mapbooks and will also be handing out our new brochure designed by Watermark Design. The pamphlet highlights six cycling trips of the entire Trail from Niagara-on-the-Lake to Brockville. For a sneak preview of the new brochure view the attachment “Brochure.pdf”. Hope to see you there! The study examines the linkages and interconnections of pathways, proposes appropriate pathway extensions and upgrades while also reviewing and developing design standards. The final report will create an implementation strategy for pathway improvements within both a short and long-term planning horizon over the next 25 years. Although the deadline for public comments is now closed the draft report can still be viewed on the City’s website at http://www.cityofkingston.ca/residents/development/pathways/index.asp. Vicki Barron Speaks at the Fall Seminar Series of the Institute for Environmental StudiesThe Institute of Environmental Studies at the University of Toronto is hosting a seminar series this fall on current environmental issues. Vicki Barron will lead off the series with a presentation about the regeneration of the Canadian shores of Lake Ontario on Wednesday October 1 at 4pm. Eight years after its official opening the Trail continues to serve as an innovative example of community cooperation and design excellence. The series will continue on various Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the fall. Its now the summer of 2003 and Kathlene must rise to the challenge of riding the rest of the Trail alone. Has she prepared well and made the right calculations about how far to ride each day? Will her husband be able to find the designated pick-up spots? Read the attachment “WillingTripPt2.doc” to find out. Cheers!
