Cornwall to Riviere Beaudette - 48 km

Participants can reminisce about their journey along the Canadian shores of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River as they meander towards the finish point in Riviere Beaudette.  New friendships and experiences may be celebrated at the wrap up party at Sam’s Place and plans for a return trip may begin for the Great Waterfront Trail Adventure 2009!

Breakfast - Cornwall
Enjoy a catered breakfast at the Civic Centre at the Lift off festival! Participants will enjoy breakfast while overlooking the banks of the St. Lawrence River, and weather permitting, the launch of hot air balloons.

Rest Stop -  Cooper Marsh Conservation Area
At the final rest stop of the Great Waterfront Trail Adventure, cyclists will have water, snacks and restrooms available to them.

Finish Line - Riviere Beaudette
The Great Waterfront Trail Adventure will come to an end at Sam’s Place/Chez Bob/Martin Village in Riviere Beaudette. Known by all three names depending on what province and generation you are from, the bar sits on the south side of Route 2 just inside the Quebec border. Finishing with a party, participants will have a chance to exchange contact information with friends they made along the way, celebrate their achievements, meet up with friends and family who will drive them home, and sign up for the Great Waterfront Trail Adventure 2010!

South Glengarry, along with Mayor Brodeur from Rivierre Beaudette and our friends from across the border will bring their flair for hospitality and celebration!

Cornwall - Lamoureux Park
The Lift Off Festival continues this morning with hot air balloons taking to the skies.  If you would like to ride in a hot air balloon tickets may be purchased for this unique experience.

Cornwall Jail
Step right into a cell to experience life behind bars at the Cornwall Jail.  Built in 1834, stories of prison life from the point of view of the guards as well as the inmates are told in this haunted locale.

Cooper Marsh Conservation Area
Once a lowland area periodically used for farming by United Empire Loyalists who settled here in the 1780's, the marsh was created when, in the mid 1800s, control structures raised water levels to aid in navigation along the St. Lawrence River.

LIft Off, the annual hot air balloon festival will rise again during the weekend of July 10-13, 2008, with all events taking place Cornwall's Lamoureux Park located on the St. Lawrence River! This year, the arrival of 20 - 25 majestic hot air balloons is anticipated. In addition to the extensive balloon roster, there is an impressive list of musical groups that will perform on stage.
