The
event details surrounding each day of the second annual Great Waterfront
Trail Adventure (July 4-11, 2009) are being finalized. Some events and
overnights may change - check back soon for updates!! In the meantime,
a look through last year's itineraries (below) will give you an idea of
the wide range of fun and inspiring experiences you can expect as you
visit the vibrant and diverse communities along the Waterfront Trail.

| Darlington
Provincial Park to Presqu'ile Provincial Park - 113.6 km
The start of Day 4 begins in Clarington
which features a diverse waterfront of wetlands, meadows, forests,
bluffs and beaches before heading into a perennial favourite of
end to enders, Port Hope. This charming heritage town is the official
lunch stop and offers an excellent selection of shopping, theatre
and restaurants. Continuing east, riders will enter Cobourg, a town
with architectural splendor dating back to the 1800's and a top
rated marina that will serve as a rest stop. A canopy of mature
trees will provide shade as participants continue their journey
on a quiet and remote section of the Trail.

Provincial Park
Day 4 of the Great Waterfront Trail Adventurers will begin with
Friends of Second Marsh hosting an $8 breakfast with choice of warm
egg-cheese-bacon bagel or egg-cheese-ham english muffin, with fruit,
juice, and choice of coffee, tea, or hot-chocolate in Darlington
Provincial Park. Vegetarian options available. Snacks are also available
at additional cost.

Rest
Stop – Port
of Newcastle Waterfront Park
The Port of Newcastle Waterfront Park will be the first rest stop
with oranges, granola and water for participants. Water is also
available; remember you want to be drinking a water bottle every
hour.

Lunch
- Port
Hope
Historic Port Hope boasts the best preserved main street in Ontario
filled with antique, boutique and specialty shops. Riders can choose
to have lunch at one of the numerous restaurants, cafés and eateries
located centrally in the downtown core (www.porthope.ca)
or can make arrangements ahead of time for an $8 bagged lunch with
your choice of chicken, roast beef, or veggie sandwiche, fruit,
snack, and drink. On
the day of your visit to Port Hope, staff will assist you with a
copy of menus and directions and there will be security provided
for your bicycles while you relax and enjoy your time in Port Hope.

Rest
Stop - Cobourg

The town of Cobourg and the DBIA are putting together something
special for snacks and water, prepare to be surprised.

Rest Stop - Wicklow
Beach
Wicklow beach will be an informal, but possibly anticipated rest
stop. Water, a porta pottie, and a snack will be available.

Rest Stop - Colborne
The picturesque Village of historic Colborne
is the last rest stop prior to the final point of destination at Presqu’ile
Point for Day 4. The rest stop will be hosted in the Village’s central
Victoria Park, a beautiful and relaxing park across the street from
downtown Colborne amenities and shops. The host of volunteers will
be ready to welcome you with refreshments and snacks including fresh
strawberries, apples, pies and other tastes of the area. Visit the
Tourism Cramahe Visitor’s Centre across the street from Victoria Park
in the Cramahe Municipal Building for ideas on great things to do
and see in Cramahe.

Dinner and Camping - Prequ’ile
Provincial Park
As the end destination for the day, cyclists and their support teams
can relax on the beach, swim, go windsurfing, diving, fishing or
take in the nature programs and visit the oldest operating lighthouse
on the north shore of Lake Ontario. Dinner will be served
in the Park by the Rotary Club at a cost of $15 and will include
chicken and salads.

Cobourg offers self guided walking tours of their downtown heritage
district that begin a few blocks from the rest stop. The tour
provides information on historical houses and buildings, some of
